Hey teachers!
This is Allison, and I'm excited to introduce the latest addition to Raincity Teacher Talk... our creative writing blog!
*cue wild applause*
"Practice what you teach." This is one of our core educational beliefs. As such, we've decided to start a creative writing blog to practice our creative writing skills. We all agree that, if we are going to expect our students to experiment with creative writing, we should be ready and willing to do the same.
With our busy, conflicting, and often chaotic schedules, it's hoped that this page will be able to function as an online writing group for teachers. From time to time, one of us will post a writing prompt or activity on this page and invite the others to write a response. The idea is that we'll be able to try out a variety of writing prompts and activities on each other before using them in the classroom.
Anyone who wants to give one of our prompts a try is welcome to join in -- just post your response in the comments below.
Our first prompt is one that a few of us already wrote a response to during an in-person writing group session. To get the ball rolling, I'll post my own response in the comments below.
The prompt: Write a persuasive piece convincing someone to buy some house mice.
Happy writing,
Allison
